Levee Board votes for millage despite surplus of $31 million

“We have the option every year of adopting a millage,” said board member Carolyn Prator. “If we don’t adopt it, each year we can re-vote to adopt it. We don’t have to go back to the public for a vote. … It very, very gradually decreases each year you don’t adopt a millage, but it would be generations before the millage would ever go away.
