MICHIGAN FUGITIVE WANTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER CAPTURED AT LOCAL MOTEL
A dangerous fugitive wanted by authorities in Michigan for attempted murder was located and captured at a Bossier City motel Wednesday.
Members of the United States Marshal’s Violent Offender Task Force with the assistance of Bossier City police arrested Dawon Dupree Haymer, 26, of Muskegon Heights, Michigan at the Bossier Inn and Suites in the 700 block of Diamond Jacks Boulevard. Haymer, who was considered armed and dangerous, was wanted for attempted murder and weapons charges in connection with a shooting earlier this month in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Upon learning that Haymer was at the motel, Task Force members called Bossier City police for assistance and made contact with him inside a room. Due to his refusal to obey officers’ commands, a Bossier City police K-9 was utilized to assist with taking Haymer into custody. As a result, Haymer sustained a dog bite to his lower right leg. He was treated at LSU Health in Shreveport and booked into the Bossier City Jail as a fugitive after his release from the hospital. He was later transferred to the Bossier Parish Maximum Security Facility where he awaits extradition.
