Victim in deadly stabbing named

Shreveport police have released the name of the victim of a deadly stabbing last weekend.

Shortly after 4:30 a.m. Sunday, Shreveport police responded to a stabbing at an apartment complex in the 9000 block of Mansfield Road.

Upon officers’ arrival at the scene, the body of 56-year-old Robert Williams of Shreveport was discovered inside the home.

Williams, who was pronounced dead at the scene, had suffered at least one stab wound to the upper body.

Authorities arrested Williams’s girlfriend, 39-year-old Betty Jean Terrell of Shreveport, who was present inside the home up on the officers’ arrival.

Terrell allegedly stabbed Williams in the midst of a dispute between the two.

Shreveport police violentcrimes investigators along with crime scene investigators immediately launched an investigation.

Terrell was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder. She was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.

The investigation is continuing as authorities seek to gather additional details about what might have led to the deadly stabbing.
