Warrant obtained in kidnapping of 4-year-old
Shreveport Police Department
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Shreveport man accused of kidnapping a 4-yearold child early last week.
On Wednesday, June 19, Shreveport police responded to a home located in the 100 block of West 78th Street in reference to a disorderly person.
When officers arrived at the residence, contact was made with a woman, who told them that her exboyfriend, 26- year-old Desmond Edwards, entered her home without permission and took her 4-yearold daughter.
Authorities were told that Edwards fled the home with the child, driving a gray-colored Dodge Durango SUV.
Shreveport police detectives arrived and immediately launched an investigation.
During the inquiry, authorities, speaking with Edwards via phone, were able to arrange for the safe return of the child to her mother.
The child, who was uninjured during the incident, was returned roughly two hours later by a third party.
Authorities are now seeking Edwards’s whereabouts. He is wanted on a charge of simple kidnapping.
Bond in the matter has been set at $180,000.
Caddo Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of $500 for information leading to Edwards’s arrest. Anyone with any information is urged to call them at 673-7373.
