Two arrested in shots-fired incident

Authorities have arrested two men for their alleged involvement in an early morning shooting in west Shreveport.
Shortly after 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning, June 29, Shreveport patrol officers responded to the intersection of Monkhouse Drive near Interstate Drive in reference to a shots-fired call.
When officers arrived, contact was made with three victims who were riding in a car they claim was shot by a group of armed males occupying a gold-colored Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
It was reported to police that a verbal altercation involving both groups occurred at a Monkhouse Drive gas station moments before shots rang out.
The victims told authorities they were in the process of driving away from the scene when shots were fired at their vehicle, causing a subsequent crash.
While no one was injured during the incident, damage to the victims’ vehicle was consistent with statements they provided.
The shooting suspects were seen fleeing the scene traveling eastbound on Interstate 20. A description of the suspect vehicle was broadcast, at which time responding officers located the coupe on Jewella Avenue near Doris Avenue.
A subsequent traffic stop w as conducted on the vehicle, at which time two men inside were detained.
The men were identified as 22 -year-old Christopher Hayes and 19-year-old LeBrandon White, both of Shreveport.
Investigating officers seized two handguns from the vehicle during the traffic stop and learned that one of the weapons had been reported stolen.
Hayes and White were charged with illegal use of a weapon and illegal possession of stolen things. Both were booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
