Death of Bill Robertson, mayor of Minden and past president of LMA
Letter to the Editor Hilda D.
Curry Mayor of New Iberia President, Louisiana Municipal Association
The members of the Louisiana Municipal Association are saddened to learn of the death of our colleague, the Honorable Bill Robertson, longtime mayor of the city of Minden, on June 27, from an extended illness.
Mayor Robertson was a devoted public servant to both the city of Minden and the Louisiana Municipal Association (LMA). He began his career in public service nearly 40 years ago serving as a councilman for the city of Minden. Robertson was elected to the Webster Parish Police Jury in 1979 from the District 6 seat. In 1990, he was elected as mayor of that city, a job he held until his death. He served as past president of the Louisiana Municipal Association in 2008-2009 and continued to remain an integral part of the organization.
A very passionate believer in municipal government, Mayor Robertson was a proud supporter of our association. Municipal government was his life, and we honor his years of dedicated public service. His friendship and counsel will be truly missed.
Our state and communities have lost an outstanding leader, and we mourn his passing. We express deepest condolences to Mayor Robertson’s wife, Barbara, his family and friends, and the people of the city of Minden.
