‘Rudolph’s Revenge’ features daylong Christmas in July block party in N.O.

Largest summertime Christmas party comes to the Big Easy at Barcadia and Generations Hall

NEW ORLEANS, La. One of the largest and most popular national summertime events is coming to New Orleans.

“Rudolph’s Revenge,” a free indoor and outdoor party celebrating Christmas in July, will kick off its inaugural New Orleans event on Saturday, July 27.

“Rudolph’s Revenge” will start at 11 a.m. at Barcadia, located at 601 Tchoupitoulas St., with the party moving later in the evening to Generations Hall, 310 Andrew Higgins Drive, for an all-night music and dance event.

“Rudolph’s Revenge,” which started in Dewey Beach, Del., in 2000 by the creators of the “Running of the Santas,” features bands, games, drink specials, food and giveaways. The event is the perfect place to begin the six- month countdown to Christmas 2013.

In an effort to spur excitement for December’s popular “Running of the Santas,” the new summertime event will showcase the Christmas spirit with participants encouraged to deck out in their most creative red and green summertime attire, highlighting their personal twist to the Christmas season.

“Rudolph’s Revenge” will feature brunch and drink specials. Any two brunch items will only be $12.14 (the date of this year’s Third Annual Running of the Santas on Dec. 14). Entertainment will be provided by The Free Drinks, a ’90s cover band, and DJ Brian Dawe. Eventgoers will also enjoy free play on most of the 34 games at Barcadia.

The daylong party also includes free barbecue for the early birds, “Running of the San tas” promotional shirt giveaways, free reindeer ears, Grand Marnier and Abita giveaways, and a free “Running of the Santas” registration for the first 50 “Rudolph’s Revenge” registrants.

The party at Barcadia will kick off at 11 a.m. and will parade down Tchoupitoulas at 10 p.m. to Generations Hall. Anyone wearing reindeer ears will be granted free admission to the all night event at Generations Hall with entertainment by VH 1 Master of the Mix and DJ Brian Dawe.
