Frack wastewater a threat to the South, laws fail to address problem
In January 2003, two tanker trucks in Rosharon, Texas unloaded oil and gas wastewater, disposing of it deep underground in a so-called “injection well.” The pouring of the water into the well released flammable vapors, and when one of the idling trucks backfired, the cloud ignited, killing three workers.
