Bossier City Police Dept. to hold job fair Aug. 22
The Bossier City Police Department is looking for ablebodied people to help keep their community safe.
To that end, the department will hold a job fair from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Bossier Civic Center, 620 Benton Road in Bossier City.
According to Capt. John Nicholson of the Bossier City Police Department, available jobs are for police officers and jailers.
In all, about 13 police officers and four jailers are needed.
But don’t think that this means that crime is on the rise in Bossier City.
“We’ve had people retire lately, and we want to build up our applicant pool,” Capt. Nicholson said.
“We’re going to have some recruiters there to answer questions,” he said of the job fair.
The next available academy will be held early next year.
Nicholson said applicants must be at least 21 years of age and be able to pass a physical fitness exam as well as an extensive background check.
He said that applications for the positions at BCPD will be accepted through Sept. 3.
