Arrest warrant obtained in Shreveport's latest homicide

Authorities have obtained a warrant for the arrest of a local man following a fatal shooting in Shreveport's Lakeside neighborhood Saturday evening.

Shortly before 10:00 p.m. On August 17, 2013, Shreveport Police responded to a reported shooting in the 2900 block of Poland Street. Upon officer's arrival at the scene, contact was made with members of the Shreveport Fire Department who confirmed, an adult male identified as 25 year old Jacoby Taylor, was deceased from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body.

Violent Crimes detectives along with Crime Scene investigators were immediately summoned to the scene of the crime, launching their inquiries into the matter. Authorities have since learned that moments prior to the shooting, a male suspect was observed firing a number of shots from a moving vehicle into a crowd of persons standing in the 2900 block of Poland Street. It was during this time, Jacoby Taylor was believed to have been struck and killed. The suspected shooter, who authorities have identified as 22 year old Rico Allen of Shreveport, reportedly fled from the vehicle, on foot following the shooting and into a nearby wooded area.  A search of the surrounding vicinity was conducted; however Allen was not located.  While police believe Allen may be currently homeless, he is known to frequent the Lakeside neighborhood. Detectives have procured a warrant for the arrest of Allen who now faces charges of second degree murder.  Allen's bond has been set at $200,000.  As the investigation process continues, authorities urge anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Rico Allen to Contact Caddo Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373 or on their website at www.lockemup.org
