Fight leads to arrest for battery

A Shreveport man was arrested early Sunday morning after a fight.

At about 1:14 a.m. Sunday, a Blanchard police officer was dispatched to the parking lot of Elsie’s Truck Stop in reference to a fight that had taken place at 6582 Luke Lane in Tom Ridge Mobile Home Park.

Upon arrival, the complainant, Joshua A. Burson told the officer that the suspect, 23-year-old Ronnie Wayne Kent of 6582 Luke Lane in Shreveport, punched him twice in the face and pulled a gun on him.

Burson was at Kent’s home “chilling” with friends, and everything was fine at first. Then Kent, who was allegedly very intoxicated, “started acting crazy” and called Burson a “free-loading bitch.”

Kent allegedly told Burson to take his eyes off him or he would “f— me up.”

Kent walked up to Burson and suddenly hit him twice in the face. He then pulled a gun, “racked it back” and put it to Burson’s head, saying, “Try me, mother –f——.”

Burson then left the house and drove to Elsie’s, where he called the police.

An officer drove to Kent’s home on Luke Lane and saw a male, who turned out to be Kent, sitting in a ditch area drinking a beer. Kent was very intoxicated and had very poor speech and poor balance.

Kent told the officer, “I know why you are here,’ whereupon he placed his own hands behind his back. Kent was handcuffed and arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a weapon and simple battery.

Kent said he was upset at the way the victim looked at him and hit him, adding that he never pulled a gun on anybody.

The officer found a gun that was identified by the victim.
