Missing six year old located safely; suspect jailed

 A child reported missing last week in west Shreveport has been located unharmed in east Texas.

 

On September 15, 2013, Shreveport Police investigators were contacted by Upshur County Sheriff's officials regarding the arrest of a man sought in connection with the disappearance of a six year old child reported missing on September 13, 2013.  The man, identified as  45 year old Matthew Monie, was arrested at a home located in Ore City Texas.  At the time of his arrest, Matthew Monie was accompanied by the minor child, Matthew Edwin Monie, who was recovered uninjured.   Matthew Monie was taken into custody with the assistance of officials from the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force.  The minor Monie was remanded to the custody of child welfare officials.

 

Matthew Monie, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Interference with the custody of a child and will eventually be extradited back to Shreveport to face charges.  Much investigation remains to be done in the matter; however bond has been set at  $500,000.
