Suspect sought in shooting that injured juvenile

A child is recovering and a suspect is being sought in connection with an overnight shooting in Shreveport.

Just before midnight on September 16, 2013, Shreveport Police were called to a home in the 2000 block of Murray Street relative to a shooting.  Upon the arrival of officers, it was learned an eight year old girl had been struck by a stray bullet that apparently entered the home in which she and other family members were sleeping.  The child, who was taken to LSUHSC suffered serious injuries to the legs, but is otherwise expected to recover.  No other persons were injured during the ordeal.

Authorities believe the incident occurred when an unidentified male subject reportedly fired multiple rounds from what was described as a large caliber weapon in the direction of the home.  The suspect reportedly fled the scene on foot immediately thereafter.  Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives responded to the scene and immediately initiated and investigation.  At current, limited information has been obtained as to the identity of a possible suspect or motive for the shooting. Authorities are urging anyone with information about this crime to contact Caddo-Crime Stoppers immediately at (318) 673-7373 or on their website at www.lockemup.org
