Bay BridgeFest music festival returns October 25-27
Twenty bands, three stages, three days with headliners The Revivalists and Dumstaphunk
BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss., — Bay BridgeFest music festival returns to downtown Bay St. Louis, Miss., Oct. 25-27. The weekend event features a mix of national and regional performing acts, and many of the artists are mainstays of the popular New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
A total of 20 bands will play on three stages throughout the weekend. This year's lineup features The Revivalists, Dumpstaphunk, Amanda Shaw, Terrance Simien & the Zydeco Experience, Honey Island Swamp Band, Walter Wolfman Washington, Johnny Sansone, Cedric Burnside Project, Young Pinstripe Brass Band, Gravy, Rochelle Harper Band and Sista Jazz.
Admission to the music festival on Saturday and Sunday is $6 a day, cash only at the gate. Kids 12 and under are free. There will be free admission for military, EMS, police and firefighters on Sunday, Oct. 27. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.BayBridgeFest.org.
A free show and Patron's Party featuring the Relative Unknowns will kick off the event on Friday night, Oct. 25. This show will take place atop the city's innovative downtown parking garage, which received the 2011 Honor Award by the Mississippi chapter of the American Institute of Archi tects.
Bay BridgeFest has taken place in Bay St. Louis on the Mississippi Gulf Coast every year since 2007. “The Bay” was named one of the Top Ten Small Beach Towns in the country by Coastal Living Magazine (2010) and chosen as one of the Coolest Small Towns in America by Budget Travel Magazine (2013). The historic downtown is a perfect venue for an outdoor festival, giving serious music fans a rare chance to enjoy their favorite regional performers in a relaxed Gulf-front setting. Admission to the art booth exhibits and Silver Slipper Food Village along Main Street in downtown Bay St. Louis is free.
Festival-goers can browse in shops, stroll through the downtown, enjoy coastal foods and local art, and take it easy under the live oaks. This year Bay BridgeFest will also include a haunted house with proceeds benefiting the Bay-Waveland Lions Club. The Mississippi Tourism Association named Bay BridgeFest the 2012 Large Event of the Year, and the event also received the 2012 AAA Southern Travel Treasure Award.
