Shreveport Police seek answers in a deadly weekend shooting

A weekend shooting has left a local man dead and police searching for a suspect.

Just before 1:30 a.m. on October 12, 2013, Shreveport Police officers responded to University Medical Center relative to a man who arrived at the hospital suffering a single gunshot wound to the upper body.  The man, identified as 28 year old Jonathon Davis of Shreveport, reportedly drove himself to the hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound while at a gas station located in the 3700 block of Hearne Avenue.  Davis died shortly after his arrival at the hospital.  No additional injuries were reported.

Preliminary investigation suggests Davis was sitting inside his car at the gas station when multiple shots from a source unknown at this time rang out.  Davis was subsequently struck by one of the shots. Shreveport Police Violent Crimes investigators along with Crime Scene personnel were called to the scene to investigate the matter.  At current, no suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting; however police are actively engaged in seeking the identities and whereabouts of the person or persons responsible.  Police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact Caddo-Shreveport Crime Stoppers immediately at (318) 673-7373 or on their website at: www.lockemup.org
