Man shot after alleged struggle over gun

A man is recovering and a suspect is being sought in connection with a weekend shooting in Shreveport.
Just before 7 p.m. Sunday, Shreveport police responded to University Medical Center in reference to a shooting.
When officers arrived, they learned that 20-year-old Deonza McClinton had been transported to the hospital’s emergency room by private auto after suffering a gunshot wound to the thigh.
McClinton was treated for his injuries and is expected to survive.
Authorities believe the incident began when an alleged fight between McClinton and another man known to him erupted near the intersection of Midway Street and Joplin Avenue.
it was reported that the two men struggled over a gun, during which time the weapon discharged, striking McClinton.
Shreveport police violentcrimes detectives responded to the scene and immediately initiated an investigation.
Authorities are working at the present time to gather additional information regarding the shooting and are confident that the arrest of a suspect is imminent.
