Shreveport Police Department
A Shreveport man was arrested on several charges, including DWI and possession of marijuana, following a traffic stop Sunday.
A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle for switched tags.
Upon contact with the driver, 40-year-old Robert Earl Scott of 316 W. 69th St., the odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected on his breath. Scott also had red, glassy eyes and slurred speech.
Field sobriety tests were conducted which confirmed impairment.
Scott was placed into custody, and officers conducted an inventory of the vehicle, where they found a 40-ounce Natural Light bottle with a bag of a vegetablelike material that tested positive for marijuana. The substance weighed 1.1 grams.
Post- Miranda, Scott admitted that it was his “weed.”
Scott was transported to traffic enforcement, where he refused additional field sobriety tests and a breath test.
Scott was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on charges of DWI second offense, possession of schedule I drugs and operating a vehicle while under suspension for certain prior offenses.
