A Blanchard woman was finally freed from the wreckage of a 2012 Dodge pickup truck near Longwood this afternoon and transported to the University Hospital Trauma Center.

Caddo Parish Sheriff's Cpl. Tammy Eiskina says firefighters worked diligently for nearly an hour before they were able to rescue the woman from her Dodge pickup truck that crashed in the single vehicle crash south of Longwood on Louisiana Highway 169.

According to Eiskina, the patient was conscious and talking with her rescuers that responded from Caddo Parish Fire District No. 1 while she dangled from the seat of her truck, with one firefighter trying to support her weight with his shoulder.

Caddo Sheriff's Deputy James Norwood, who investigated the accident says the vehicle apparently left the roadway and made impact with five objects, including a mailbox and trees before rolling onto its passenger side where it came to rest on the opposite side of the highway.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 53-year-old Francis Guillory has been transported by Caddo Fire District No. 1 ambulance to University Hospital.  The seriousness of her injuries were unknown.
