A woman is left recovering following a shooting that occurred at Shreveport restaurant Saturday afternoon.

Just after 3:00 p.m. on October 26, 2013, Shreveport Police responded to the 6100 block of Financial Plaza relative to a reported shooting.  Upon the arrival of officer’s it was learned a man, identified as 56 year old Alan Ferguson of the 5900 block of Wingfield Lane in Shreveport, entered the Waffle House restaurant, and after placing an order with an employee, produced a handgun and opened fire inside the business.  As employees and patrons fled the establishment, employee Judith Spann was struck once in the left arm by gunfire.  Following the shooting, Ferguson, who fled the business on foot, was taken into custody a short time later near an apartment complex near the 6800 block of Raspberry Lane.   Judith Spann, the only person injured during the incident, was transported to University Medical Center for treatment of injuries considered to be non life-threatening.

Shreveport Police Violent Crimes investigators along with crime scene personnel arrived on scene launching an immediate inquiry.  Preliminary investigation suggests Ferguson, who was possibly under the influence of an intoxicating agent, was agitated concerning personal issues when he entered the restaurant.  Authorities have ruled out any link between Ferguson and any persons present at the business at the time the shooting occurred.  Ferguson was transported from the scene to police headquarters where he was interviewed by Violent Crimes investigators. Following subsequent interviews, Ferguson was booked into the Shreveport City Jail where he now faces a single count of Attempted First Degree Murder.  The investigation continues at this hour.
