Shreveport Police detectives have arrested a local man accused of domestic abuse battery following an ongoing investigation.

Just after 3:30 a.m. on October 26, 2013, Shreveport Police patrolmen contacted an adult female at the Police Complex in the 1200 block of Texas Avenue relative to a reported domestic battery. Responding officers learned the victim had been involved in a dispute with her boyfriend, later identified as 21 year old Garnette M. Darby II, in the 300 block of Olive Street. During the course of the argument, Darby allegedly physically forced her to the ground and began striking her with a closed fist. According to the victim, as the attack continued, Darby grabbed her by her throat and kicked her as well. The victim suffered minor injuries during the melee.

On October 29, 2013, during the course of the continuing investigation, Shreveport Police Domestic Violence detectives gathered evidence supporting allegations made by the victim.  Based upon information and evidence collected during the probe, Darby, of the 5700 block of Golden Meadows Drive in Bossier City, was arrested and subsequently booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count each of domestic abuse battery with strangulation and criminal property damage.
