Shreveport Police arrest armed robbery suspects at local motel
Nearby LTC placed on lockdown while SPD converge on scene
Shreveport police and Special Response Team members arrested two people in connection with a pair of crimes that happened early Tuesday morning.
According to Cpl. Marcus Hines, public information officer for the Shreveport Police Department, an African-American male and a white female were taken into custody around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Room 248 at the Royal Inn Motel in the 1900 block of North Market Street.
A man was the victim of an armed robbery at the Days Inn in the 4900 block of West Monkhouse Drive. Later that morning, a Hispanic male was shot in the upper body in the 400 block of Olive Street in Shreveport’s Highland neighborhood. The victim was transported to University Health Hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries
Hines said that information gathered during their investigation led police to the north Shreveport motel, where the two suspects, believed to be involved in both crimes, were arrested.
The suspects were taken to police headquarters for questioning. Their names have not been released yet. Police remained at the motel to collect any additional evidence.
No one was injured during the incident.
The motel and nearby Louisiana Technical College were both placed on lockdown during the standoff.
