Two arrested after downtown melee

Two men are behind bars following a fight in the downtown area.

At about 1:40 a.m. Saturday, Shreveport police patrol officers responded to a call from a concerned citizen in reference to a large fight in the 400 block of Clyde Fant Parkway.

When police arrived, several suspects fled the scene of the crime on foot in an apparent attempt to elude authorities.

Moments later, officers heard gunshots nearby.

Responding patrolmen investi gating the disturbance ultimately apprehended two male suspects, later identified as 21-year-old Joe E. Martin and 19-year-old Timothy Brown Jr.

Based on information gathered and evidence recovered, officers charged Martin, of the 2200 block of C.E. Galloway Boulevard in Shreveport, with one count of resisting an officer and Brown, of the 1300 block of Wilkinson Street in Shreveport, with one count of illegal carrying of a weapon.

Both men were booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
