Man injured following Cherokee Park shooting

PRESS RELEASE

Shreveport Police Department

A local man is recovering from minor injuries following a shooting in Shreveport’s Cherokee Park neighborhood.

Just before 10 p.m. Wednesday, Shreveport police patrol officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Navajo Trail in reference to reports that a man had been shot near a wooded area next to an apartment complex.

When officers arrived, the victim, identified as 20-year-old Jimmy White, was seen suffering from what appeared to be two gunshot wounds to the lower extremities.

White was transported to University Health Center in Shreveport for what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Violent-crimes detectives and crime scene investigators launched an inquiry into the matter and began collecting evidence.

Preliminary investigation suggests White was shot during a physical altercation which involved several males at a nearby home in the 800 block of Navajo Trail.

Authorities are working to gather additional information about the case as well as to identify and apprehend the suspect in the shooting.

Persons with any information regarding this crime are urged to contact Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 673-7373 or online on their Web site at www.lockem up.org.
