Dr. Fred Gil Rew appointed to Community Bank of Louisiana Board of Directors


William E. Dorroh, president and chief executive officer of Community Bank of Louisiana, announced the addition of Dr. Fred Gil Rew to the board of directors of the local 112-year-old bank.

Dr. Rew, a successful dentist in DeSoto Parish, is married to Susan Rew, and together they have two daughters, Rebecca Rew Brittan of Charleston, S.C., and Julie Rew of New Orleans. Originally from Lake Charles, Dr. Rew graduated LSU with a B.S. in zoology in 1974, entering LSU dental school and graduating in 1978. Dr. Rew opened his practice in Mansfield in 1978, and has been active in civic, public and professional activities, which include leadership of the LSU DeSoto Alumni Association Chapter; eight years’ service on the DeSoto Parish School Board, serving as president for four years; former president of DeSoto Parish Improvement Committee; member of the DeSoto Parish Chamber of Commerce; founding member of the Louisiana Blueberry Festival; winner of the LSU Chapter Service Award; member of the Board of Managers of the Cook Hotel; member of the board of directors of the LSU Alumni Association, serving as the National Fund chairman; and most recently honored as president elect of the Association. Dr. Rew is also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mansfield, where he has attended since 1978.

In announcing his appointment to the Board of Community Bank of Louisiana, President Dorroh stated, “Gil has been an active community member of the DeSoto Parish community for over 34 years. Because of his leadership roles in numerous local and state organizations and committees, as well as his volunteer service, he epitomizes the spirit of Community Bank of Louisiana. As a bank, we stand for serving of our local community and as a leader, Gil does as well. We welcome him to our board and look forward to his vision in keeping our bank and community among the best in the nation.”
