Employee embezzles nearly $600,000

PRESS RELEASE

Caddo Sheriff’s Office

A Shreveport woman who was employed as a personal assistant to the owner of Phillips Energy was arrested last Friday, Dec. 13, for embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from the company.

Phyllis Curtis Longmire, 52, of the 9000 block of Windbrooke Drive, is accused of embezzling over $600,000.

Longmire issued 206 fraudulent checks and later altered the checks so she could negotiate them.

Caddo Sheriff’s Detective Bobby Herring investigated the case and said that Longmire created fictitious payees in the company’s accounting program and then issued checks to the made-up payees.

Once the checks were issued, she would alter the checks and make them payable to her husband. She then deposited the checks into her personal bank account.

Longmire was arrested on a charge of felony theft.

She was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.
