Authorities arrest suspect in shooting

PRESS RELEASE Shreveport Police Department

A man wanted by authorities in connection with a New Year’s Day shooting is now in police custody following his arrest Sunday evening.

On Sunday, members of the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force were successful in tracking down and arresting 36- year-old Schuncey Bernard Bates of Shreveport, who was wanted in connection with the Jan. 1 shooting of 40-year-old Orlando Debrow.

Debrow was reportedly shot following an argument between the two men while in the 2600 block of Lillian Street.

Debrow, who survived the shooting, is expected to make a full recovery.

Following his arrest, Bates was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center on an outstanding warrant for his arrest, charging him with one count of attempted second-degree murder.

Bond in the matter has been set at $350,000.
