House fire claims two lives in Gilliam, La.
A deadly blaze claimed the lives of two Gilliam, La., residents Monday morning.
Just before noon, state fire marshal investigators were called to investigate the residential fire that broke out at 5417 Community St. after neighbors reported the fire.
The first firefighters to arrive on the scene found the two-bedroom mobile home fully involved in flames.
Once the fire was brought under control, firefighters located the bodies of 35-year-old Adonis Walker and his girlfriend, 32-yearold Hanna Hawkins, in the master bedroom of the burned-out structure.
The two fire victims occupied the home with two children who were away from the home attending school.
Investigators determined that the fire originated in a bedroom on the opposite end of the home from where the victims slept.
The cause of the fire had not yet been determined, but investigators suspect that electricity supplied to the home by extension cords played a role in the fire.
There were no working smoke alarms in use in the home.
The bodies were processed at the scene by investigators and released to the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office for autopsy.
State fire marshal investigators, along with Caddo sheriff’s deputies, are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
