Shreveport man recovering from shooting near downtown
A local man is recovering from a gunshot wound he received Saturday night near downtown Shreveport.
At approximately 10 p.m. Saturday, Shreveport police patrol officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Louisiana Avenue in reference to a shooting.
When they arrived at the scene, officers found 48-year-old Sidney Willis suffering from a gunshot wound to the right forearm as well as what appeared to be grazing wounds to the chest and thigh.
Willis was subsequently transported to University Health Center by Shreveport Fire Department personnel with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives responded and interviewed Willis, who told them he was walking on Fairfield Avenue near Common Street when a black male suspect wearing a yellow hooded sweatshirt approached him. The suspect then began cursing and fired shots at him.
Willis claimed he did not know the gunman.
Investigators are unable to locate a crime scene and are working to identify and apprehend the suspect or suspects responsible for this crime.
