Man charged in rape case

Shreveport police investigators have arrested a local man on sex offenses and who might have

victimized others.

An investigation involving the alleged rape of at least four juvenile victims over a protracted period of time has led to the arrest of 62-year -old Jimmy Lee Carthren of Shreveport.

He was arrested by detectives after an ongoing investigation into allegations that he sexually assaulted the victims over a period of two decades linked him to the crimes.

Carthren was taken into custody Saturday afternoon on an outstanding warrant procured by Shreveport police sex crimes detectives. The warrant charges Carthren with four counts of aggravated rape.

Following his arrest, Carthren was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.

Investigators believe Carthren may have other victims who have not come forward; however, authorities are making an appeal to those potential victims.

Carthren is jailed on $600,000 bond.

The case remains under investigation.
