Woman injured after shots are fired on parking lot
Police are seeking suspects in a shots-fired incident that injured a local woman Saturday evening.
Just after 4:30 a.m. Shreveport police were called to the 5300 Monkhouse Drive in reference to reports that gunshots had been fired in a parking lot crowded with spectators. When officers arrived on the scene, it was learned that between 150 and 200 people were loitering on the parking lot when several gunshots rang out.
During the incident, at least one person was struck by gunfire.
Police identified 25-year-old Monaaye Clark of Shreveport as the sole victim in the shooting after she arrived by private auto at University Health Medical Center suffering a single gunshot wound to the leg.
Clark was treated for injuries that were considered to be nonlife-threatening.
SPD violent-crime detectives began an investigation into the shooting. Police collected spent shell casings from the scene of the shooting which are being processed as evidence.
Authorities also learned during their inquiry that an argument between two groups of women had been reportedly taking place on the parking lot moments before the shots rang out.
Authorities are now focusing their efforts on identifying and apprehending those persons involved in the shooting.
