Suspect arrested in Virginia after kidnapping ex-girlfriend from Bossier City
A man faces a kidnapping charge after taking his ex-girlfriend at knifepoint from her Bossier City home and driving her to Virginia against her will.
Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Jose Rodriguez Guardas, 29, of Culpeper, Virginia on a charge of second-degree kidnapping. Guardas is charged with kidnapping the 22-year old woman from her residence at Zacks River Village Mobile Home Park in the 2300 block of Barksdale Boulevard on Wednesday night. Police began investigating the case after a relative of the victim called last Thursday night to report that they believed Guardas came to Bossier City and took the victim after finding a window left open on her mobile home.
During the course of the overnight investigation, detectives obtained information about Guardas’ possible location in Culpeper, Virginia and immediately contacted law enforcement there. Officers with the Culpeper Police Department were able to locate both Guardas and the victim at approximately 2 a.m. last Friday based on a vehicle description and other information obtained by Bossier City police during the investigation.
Culpeper police took Guardas into custody and found the victim to be unharmed. Detectives have procured a warrant for Guardas’ arrest on the second degree kidnapping charge with bond set at $200,000. Guardas also faces an unrelated criminal charge in the state of Arizona.
