Pedestrian dies after being hit by truck

Blanchard man struck while walking down Hwy 1

The Caddo Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatality accident that occurred Sunday night on LA Hwy. 1 south of Lake End Road.

At approximately 8:40 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office, Caddo Parish Fire District No. 7, and North Caddo EMS responded to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian, Daniel Kenneth Randall, 24, of Blanchard, was pronounced dead on scene. The vehicle was a 2006 GMC pickup driven by Floyd Mooney, age 63, of Jefferson, Texas. Mooney was not injured and not ticketed.

The CPSO Traffic Safety Unit is conducting the investigation.  Preliminary information revealed that Randall was at a Super Bowl party on Sundown Drive and had been drinking, according to Caddo Sheriff’s Lt. Michael Gray.  Randall left the left party on foot prior to being struck by the vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.
