Caddo Parish Sheriff's deputies are investigating a crash that occurred around noon on Tuesday in the 5000 block of Shreveport-Blanchard Highway.

Caddo Sheriff's Cpl. Gary Pace said they believe a medical condition may have contributed to the crash that sent 59-year-old Valerie Gold of Shreveport to the hospital.

Gold was driving a 2008 Saturn Vue northbound on Louisiana Highway 173 when she apparently lost control of the vehicle and drove into an embankment near the North Shreveport Industrial Park.

Caddo Parish Fire District No. 1 emergency medical units responded to the scene to treat Gold for what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries before being transported to a local hospital.

Pace said Gold told them that she had been treated earlier in the day for dialysis.  It is not known if a medical condition may have contributed to the crash but all indications seem to point that way.  Pace said no charges are being filed against Gold.
