Authorities search the Red River for missing pedestrian - By Chris Redford
Authorities are searching the Red River for at least one pedestrian said to have been struck by a train Wednesday night.

"The conductor on the train confirmed that he saw someone on the tracks and that he did hit them," said Assistant Shreveport Fire Chief Louis Johnson.

It happened on the railroad tracks that go over the river near downtown Shreveport.  Authorities say witnesses reported seeing the pedestrian walking in the middle of the bridge.

"There could possibly be more than one person considering witnesses say they heard multiple splashes," said Johnson.

Crews with the Shreveport and Bossier City fire departments as well the Caddo Sheriff's Office are in boats searching the water, but have not yet located the missing pedestrian.

Chief Johnson says divers will not be going into the river while it's dark.
