Botched Craigslist robbery lands suspect behind bars
A local man faces armed robbery charges after he allegedly robbed a man at gunpoint last Thursday night, June 5, in south Shreveport.
Just before 8:30 p.m. on June 5, Shreveport 911 dispatchers received a call from a victim who reported that he had just been robbed at gunpoint by a suspect while in the 8800 block of Millicent Way.
During the conversation with the victim, dispatchers gathered information indicating that the victim was reportedly robbed while in the process of purchasing a cell phone from the suspect, whom he had met on Craigslist.
It was further learned that the victim, while being held at gunpoint, was somehow able to wrestle the gun away from the suspect and gain control of the weapon.
After he was disarmed, the suspect got into his vehicle and sped away.
The victim followed the suspect and relayed information about the suspect’s direction of travel to authorities.
Patrol officers were able to apprehend the suspect on West 70th Street near Kennedy Drive, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Robbery detectives with the Shreveport Police Department later arrested the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Jakory Lang of the 600 block of Fairfield Avenue.
Lang was charged with a single count of armed robbery and booked into the Shreveport City Jail. He also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest through SPD for an unrelated matter.
