Police say shoplifter ran in stolen running shoes - By Chris Redford

A suspected thief is behind bars after police say he stole some running shoes then used them to run from an officer.

Jeffrey Fossman was booked into the city jail for theft and resisting Thursday evening.

Police say he stole some clothes, a pair of neon green running shoes and some darts from Academy Sports on Bert Kouns.

When officer J. Miles arrived on scene, authorities say Fossman ran out a side door, around the building to the parking lot then got into his Jeep.

Miles says Fossman nearly ran him over trying to get away.

Using the Jeep's license plate, officers say they were able to track Fossman to a house in the 2600 block of Creswell Avenue and take him into custody.

Police say he was still wearing the clothes and shoes he stole from the store.
