Shreveport mayoral forum slated Sept. 21
PACE (People Acting for Change and Equality) will conduct a Shreveport Mayoral Forum open to the public with the Shreveport candidates for mayor on Sunday, Sept. 21, from 4-6 p.m. at the Deaf Action Center, 601 Jordan St.
PACE is a nonpartisan organization that works to advance equality in Northwest Louisiana so that the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community can lead open, honest, responsible and safe lives at home and in the workplace.
PACE conducted previous mayoral forums in 2006 and 2010.
After a question-and-answer session, there will be a reception that will allow the candidates to meet PACE members as individuals. Membership consists of college students to clergy, librarians to lawyers, artists to professors, young adults to senior citizens; Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians and independents; liberals, conservatives and moderates; gays and straights.
PACE will not endorse any candidate but will simply make the views of each candidate known to its members.
Candidates for other offices will also be recognized at the forum. Voter registration will also be available before the forum and during the reception.
