Investigations lead to several drug arrests

Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator and Shreveport Police Chief Willie Shaw have announced the arrests of several people on drug charges following investigations in Caddo Parish and the city of Shreveport.

Last Thursday, July 24, members of the Caddo-Shreveport Narcotics Unit conducted criminal patrols in the Ingleside neighborhood of Shreveport when they observed what appeared to be a drug transaction between a pedestrian and a person in a vehicle.

Agents stopped the suspects in the 2700 block of DeSoto Street and discovered approximately one-quarter pound of marijuana inside the vehicle ready for distribution.

The driver of the vehicle, 22- year-old Carl Bernard Devers, was arrested and booked for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Also on July 24, an investigation was conducted in the Allendale neighborhood following complaints from citizens in the area. Agents discovered a large amount of crack and powder cocaine and a firearm hidden in a pit bull kennel guarded by five dogs in the 1700 block of Looney Street.

Approximately 39 grams of cocaine and $3,800 in cash were seized along with a handgun and two extended magazines.

Three suspects — 31-year-old Johnny Ray Robinson; his brother, 32-year-old Johnathan Tremaine Robinson; and 27-year-old Germany Germaine Smith —

were arrested and booked for possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

Last Friday, July 25, agents executed two search warrants — one in south Caddo Parish and the other in north Caddo Parish. The first warrant was executed by the Caddo-Shreveport Narcotics Unit and Caddo SRT in the 900 block of Barron Road.

Agents seized approximately four grams of methamphetamine ice along with a handgun found inside the residence.

Benny Joe Brinkley, 59, was arrested and booked into the Caddo Correctional Center on charges of possession of schedule II methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The second warrant was executed at a residence in the Timberline subdivision. Agents seized 233 grams of high-grade marijuana hidden in the attic of a residence in the 4000 block of Calderwood. Agents also found three firearms and a digital scale.

Timothy Allen, 44, was arrested and booked for possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
