Man arrested for abusing his wife and infant child

A local man has been arrested in connection with a reported domestic assault.

Just after 1 p.m. Saturday, Shreveport patrol officers responded to a domestic abuse call in the 100 block of Southfield Avenue, where a female victim reported that her husband abused her and then turned on their 18- month-old child.

The child sustained multiple injuries to the thigh. Both mother and child were treated at the scene by Shreveport Fire Department personnel.

Detectives with the police department’s Juvenile Division immediately responded to the scene.

Preliminary information was received linking the husband, 21- year-old Siyami Carswell, to the crime.

Detectives charged Carswell with domestic abuse  battery and cruelty to a juvenile.

Carswell was transported to the Shreveport City Jail, where he was booked on the charges.
