Bossier School Bus involved in accident

One student transported to hospital

 Bossier Parish School Board has released the bus number of a Bossier School bus involved in a minor traffic accident on Princeton road in Haughton, around 3 o'clock this afternoon. 

According to Bossier Schools’ transportation director, the driver of bus 248 was transporting approximately 38 students from Haughton Middle School. When she topped a hill on Princeton Road, a truck was stopped in the middle of the road at the bottom of the hill. The bus driver applied her brakes and tried to swerve to avoid hitting him, at which time she clipped the truck’s back fender. The outside right tires on the bus went off the asphalt and got stuck in the mud.

One student complained of a headache and was transported to Willis-Knighton Bossier. no other injuries were reported. 

All parents were contacted. Some arrived at the scene to take their children home. Another bus was sent to the scene to transport the other students.  

 

Bossier Parish Sheriff’s deputies are on the scene. The investigation into the incident continues.

Residential trash collection in Bossier City will also be suspended that day. The schedule for trash pickup for that week will be altered as follows: Monday (May 27) trash collection routes will run on Tuesday (May 28). Tuesday (May 28) trash collection routes will run on Wednesday (May 29).
