Fatality crash on I-20 kills one man, leaves eastbound lanes closed

Interstate expected to be reopened by 9:00 a.m.

 Caddo Parish Sheriff Patrol deputies responded to a two vehicle crash at 12:30 Tuesday morning in Greenwood, according to Caddo Sheriff's Sgt. Don Gibbs.

Caddo Sheriff’s deputies Cpl. Malcolm Lang, and Sergeant Mike Christian responded to I-20 east at mile marker 3, where an 18-Wheeler rear ended another 18-wheeler tractor trailer.

One of the rigs, which belongs to TIMCO Logistics from Waxahachie, Texas was hit from behind driven by Steven Everitt, 53, of Ft. Worth, Texas who was treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the second 18-Wheeler that belonged to A&B Logistics of Elk Grove Village, Illinois had to be cut from the wreckage with the Jaws of Life, but was pronounced dead at the scene.

 The Caddo Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Greenwood Police, Caddo Coroner’s Office and Caddo Fire District #3. Presently, the deceased has not been identified, and the Caddo CRASH Unit is still investigating, no citations have been issued. Currently I-20 is closed to eastbound traffic between exits 3 and 5, being rerouted on to Highway 80 until approximately 9am.
