Shreveport police detectives have charged a local man in connection with a shooting which sent another man to the hospital last week. Back on Aug. 23, Shreveport police patrol officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Drive relative to a shots fired call.

On Aug. 26, Shreveport police patrol officers responded to a shots-fired call in the 300 block of Prospect Street. As officers arrived, contact was made with the victim, who advised officers that we was shot at by a known suspect following a verbal disagreement.

Shortly after noon, Shreveport police patrol officers were called to a residence located in the 3200 block of Penick Street relative to the home being burglarized. In making contact with the homeowner, it was learned that somewhere between the hours of 1 p.

Upon arrival, 46-year-old Morris Demetruis Wilson of 2611 Willie Mays St. in Shreveport was found exiting the building. He was instructed to stop and put his hands up. Wilson ignored officers’ commands and began to run away. He was apprehended a short time later.

On July 25, the victim left town to travel to California for business. Prior to leaving, he gave the keys to his home to his friend, 63-year-old Freddie Brooks of 4805 Long St. in Shreveport, with strict instructions allowing Brooks to watch over his belongings.
