Editor’s Note: On Sept. 25, 2015, a complainant told Shreveport police officers the he saw 35- year-old James K. Granger III injecting himself with an unknown substance. After the injection, Granger became irate and grabbed the complainant by he shirt, then pushed him out of the room.

When officers arrived on scene, contact was made with an adult male and female, who told authorities they were among a group of people standing near the intersection of W. 77th and Dowdell streets when a male suspect arrived at their location driving a black, four-door sedan.

Upon arrival, it was learned that 26-year-old Austin Coffey was suffering an apparent gunshot wound to the arm. Coffey, who is a Shreveport police officer, was off-duty at the time of the incident and suffered non-life threatening injuries for which he was transported to University Health for treatment.

According to the SPD arrest report, last Friday, June 12, Shreveport police officers responded to an assault and battery. At the scene, they saw a small child inside the residence receiving medical attention by medics and were told that the 2-year-old sustained an injury to the back of her head.

investigation suggests Teekell and Lancaster were engaged in some sort of dispute with persons in a second vehicle, when Lancaster reportedly fired shots at the other vehicle. It is not known if anyone was injured in the shooting, as no shooting victim has been located.

The charges against Stephen son came as a result of an ongoing investigation conducted by Shreveport police sex crimes investigators, who were following up on claims that the suspect engaged in the sexual battery of a 17-year-old and indecent behavior of a second victim, who was 12 years old at the time the alleged incident occurred.
