Dickey's term of office was set to end Dec. 31, according to the Office of the Louisiana Secretary of State. He first took office there as mayor in January 2005, according to Oil City records. His father, John Charles Dickey Sr., was mayor from July 1968 to June 1976.

Bossier City police were called to the Horseshoe Casino in reference to a man causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers were informed by security that the man, identified as 56-year-old Mark Allan Sanford of Lewisville, Ark., was asked to leave after finding out that he was repeatedly asking patrons for money.

For the first time in the academies history, one individual took home all four awards which included the Honor Graduate Award, Physical Fitness Award, Firearms Proficiency Award and the Academic Award. Bossier Deputy Bradley Vasser was the recipient of those awards.
