When 9-year-old Phillip Hughes was enjoying his lunch last Friday with his mom and two brothers at Taco Bell on Barksdale Boulevard, he saw a uniformed law enforcement officer also having lunch. He asked his mom if he could talk to the officer about what it's like to have to be arrested and go to jail.

The 2015-2016 Centenary Youth Orchestra will rehearse on Monday nights from 7-8:30 p.m. beginning on Sept. 14, culminating in the fall semester concert on Sunday, Nov. 15, at 3 p.m. This concert will feature Centenary alumna Cara Lamb ’13 as guest artist, performing a Mozart piano concerto.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2001 Honda Civic driven by 20 -year-old Jimmy Alvarado of Magnolia, Arkansas was traveling south on LA HWY 159, when for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle exited the right side of the roadway and crashed into a group of trees.

Timoteo Gonzalez-Leiva, 42, of Honduras, pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark L. Hornsby to one count of illegal re-entry after being deported as an aggravated felon. His plea will become final when accepted by U.S. District Judge Donald E. Walter.

In 2011, he created a business and website to showcase his art called Simply Illustrate which has become his avatar and alter ego. He is currently working as an artist for several clients through this business and is contemplating transitioning back to a full time artist through diversity and expo sure.
