Twelve years ago, on Sept. 11, 2001, our nation was dramatically changed when three airliners were hijacked and flown into the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. The brave passengers on board a fourth hijacked plane regained control from the hijackers but perished when their jet slammed into a Pennsylvania field.
To showcase that technology and how it has dramatically influenced our culture, the Bossier Arts Council (BAC) will present the second annual DigiFest South festival Sept. 20-21 at the Bossier Civic Center, 620 Benton Road in Bossier City, and other locations.
District 7 ponders how best to combat a fire in a remote area just off Huckaby Road in north Caddo Parish Tuesday afternoon. A spokesman said a fire in that location began on Monday night, burning about five to seven acres, but was quickly controlled.
Shreveport firefighters battled a late afternoon blaze at a residence in the 900 block of Dalzell Street Wednesday. Crews were dispatched at 4:21 p.m. and arrived two minutes later and had the fire under control at 4:35 p.m.
These compact, birdhouse-sized structures will house a couple dozen or so books for people to borrow. All that is asked is that the borrower leave a replacement book for someone else to enjoy. There are no penalties and no charge for use of these mini-libraries.
