Two shot inside New Orleans downtown hotel

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — New Orleans police are investigating a shooting inside a downtown hotel.

Police responded around 9 a.m. Tuesday to reports of a man and woman shot in a room at the Wyndham Garden Baronne Plaza hotel.

Officer Garry Flot said two men were heard arguing when 29-year-old Kevin Cahill allegedly shot a 49-year-old man multiple times. Cahill also inadvertently shot his girlfriend, 27-year-old Sara Mott, in the foot.

Flot says Cahill and Mott, both of New York, fled but were later apprehended.

Cahill faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery, principal to narcotics and being a felon with a firearm. Mott will be booked with second-degree battery following her release from the hospital where she's listed in good condition.

The older man, believed to be from Florida, is listed as critical.
