A Shreveport man who sent inappropriate texts to a minor was arrested by Caddo sheriff's detectives on Tuesday.

The 15-year-old victim told detectives that over the weekend she received a suspicious text from a number she didn't recognize. She replied that she was only 16, but the texter continued the conversation and encouraged her to come outside so he could pick her up for sexual purposes. The girl showed the texts to her mother, who contacted the sheriff's office.

Detectives determined that the texts were sent from the phone of Gerald W. Cook.

Cook, 43, of the 6800 block of Heibner Road, was arrested by Caddo Detective Jared Marshall and booked into CCC for indecent behavior with juveniles and computer-aided solicitation of a minor.
