An 82-year-old Shreveport man was arrested by Caddo deputies this morning for stabbing his 73-year-old niece with a steak knife, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Freddie Guy, of the 200 block of East Flournoy Lucas Road, called 911 after he stabbed his niece, Janie Beaird, while she slept around 5 a.m. The two have lived together for the past three years. The stabbing was the result of years of domestic squabbles and tension, according to Caddo Detective Jason Morgan.

Beaird was taken to LSUHSC where she was undergoing surgery this morning for multiple stab wounds in the upper body.

Guy was taken to Caddo Correctional Center where he is expected to be booked for attempted second-degree murder.
