State Police to Host Active Shooter Exercise

 Louisiana State Police Troop G will host an active shooter exercise on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, starting at 9:00 a.m. at Lake Bistineau State Park located at 103 State Park Road in Doyline.  The purpose of the exercise will be to train with other law enforcement agencies and improve skills needed to ensure an effective and coordinated response to an active shooter situation in a rural environment should the need arise.

The media is invited to attend.  Participating agencies include the Louisiana State Police, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Louisiana State Park Rangers, Bienville Parish Sheriff’s Office, Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office, Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, Claiborne Parish Sheriff’s Office, DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office, Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Caddo’s highest population estimate was 257,354 on July 1, 2013. This number decreased by almost 11,000 in the next four years. The population in Bossier Parish increased by 10,000 from July 1, 2010, to July 1, 2017. In that eight-year interval, DeSoto’s population gradually increased each year.
