Two men now face charges stemming from an armed robbery of three individuals last week in east Shreveport.

On Saturday September 28, 2013, Shreveport Police were called to an apartment complex located in the 8000 block of Line Avenue relative to a reported robbery.  Upon officer’s arrival at the scene, contact was made with three victims who reported being robbed by two men at gunpoint.  Information was gathered during a preliminary investigation that revealed the men were standing in front of an apartment building when they were approached by two men, both reportedly armed with handguns.  The suspects reportedly robbed the victims of their valuables and subsequently battered the victims with the firearms during the ordeal.  Neither victim sustained serious injury; however the suspects fled the scene on foot.

Shreveport Police Robbery Detectives, acting on information received via a Caddo-Shreveport Crime Stoppers tip, were able to link two suspects to the crime.  Robert Chalmers 21 and Demetri Thomas 17, both of Shreveport, were taken into custody by Shreveport Police on October 1, 2013 and booked into the Shreveport City Jail on an unrelated criminal matter.  During the course of the ongoing investigation, authorities gathered additional evidence linking the Chalmers, Thomas duo to the armed robbery of the three men at the apartment complex.  Chalmers and Thomas now face three counts each of armed robbery.  Both men are currently housed in the Shreveport City Jail.

One million dollars down the drain to pay for a special session of the Louisiana legislature. And all for naught. The governor is hollering that the financial sky is falling and the state is in dire fiscal straights. Legislators protest that their hands are tied by too many constitutional dedications.
